Irony

I thought I'd just point out the irony of the events taking place today in Ann Arbor. Walking across campus, I caught an interesting whiff sweeping towards me. I realized today was the day we were hosting the annual "Hash Bash" on the diag and down State St. Yes, ever since 1972, we've had people, mostly hippies these days, come from all over to smoke marijuana out in the open, whether in protest, like in the first year, or in celebration, which happened this year since Michigan legalized medicinal marijuana. Ever since I got a headache from the fumes the first year I walked through it, I've tried to stay away for the day, but that's a bit harder living few streets away. The irony comes in when I walked up the hill and saw "Relay for Life" taking place. This event exists to help the American Cancer Society by having people get donations for walking/running for a certain amount of time from 10 a.m. to 10 a.m. the next day. So there you have it, hippy hash bashers in the diag, and only a few hundred yards away were the American Cancer Society runners...
